This weekend we bought an area rug and a new king size mattress. First big purchases for our new home. We close in two days and I can hardly stand it. We aren’t moving things until this weekend (our mattress is going to be delivered on Friday) which is making me even more antsy for this week to be over. John has been working like crazy to get everything in order. Thankfully he has a flexible schedule so he has a bit more time to make calls and drop things off. It will be so weird to live in a neighborhood in town after getting used to apartments/small houses and country life. It will be awesome to luxuriate in a king bed — never did I ever think I’d own one.
In other news, for the last few months I’ve been working in a little garden that some people I work with and I maintain and we’ve been getting tons of produce lately. We’ve had a good amount of lettuce, basil, and peppers for a while, but now so many more things are ready to pick. A variety of peppers, tomatoes, tomatillos, cantaloupe, watermelon, etc. When I harvested this morning with a coworker we had to make multiple trips because we had almost 200lbs of produce! Our group can’t eat the food fast enough so we end up donating quite a bit to the food pantry — it’s a wonderful problem to have. I’ve really enjoyed working in the garden. There are some days, the days when it’s brutally hot, that I don’t want to go out and work but I make myself… it’s been a learning and growing experience. I feel like now I’ve gained the confidence to plant some raised beds of our own at home and grow a variety of things instead of having just a few tomato plants. But that won’t happen until after we fence in our yard. First things first!
Upcoming on our blog: We (John and I, obviously) have been way into watching Pretty Little Liars on Netflix and John is going to be writing an essay on the merits of the show. Oh yes, there are many things that show does right! However, I’ve now watched the series in its entirety twice and I still have no idea what the heck is going on.
