Wow. I kind of forgot about this thing… it’s been over two months since I even checked on it. I am the worst at blogging. In my defense, life has been super busy. We got married! Yay! And honeymooned and got right back into the swing of things at home and work — work has been interesting, lots of new staff and people retiring or leaving and it’s been kinda chaotic.
Now we are in the process of buying a house — our closing date is so soon and I haven’t packed one box. I kind of still can’t believe it and probably won’t until we get the keys to the house. I will be super sad to say goodbye to our little red house. It is such a perfect little home and if it was just me and John forever we would stay there, but our family will be growing and the house just isn’t cut out for little ones. I have lived in the little red house longer than I have any other place since I graduated high school (I had many a year where I moved every. single. year. But I think that is somewhat standard for people in their twenties?).
Moving will be bittersweet. I will miss our landlord and his sweet wife so much, I will miss the cows and so will Rory (she has a special cow friend & they like to touch noses through the fence a lot), I will miss the quiet, I will miss seeing all the deer at night (although, we do live in Chatham and there are deer EVERYWHERE so I’m sure they will be in our new backyard), I will just miss the coziness and the quiet charm of an old farmhouse. I will not miss the doors that don’t close all the way, the death stairs (so steep! so narrow!), the power always going out, the drive to work and the stupid guineas that are always in the road wanting to make me late, the weird bathroom with the temperamental shower, the time it takes to get anywhere, and the wood paneling.
It will definitely be weird moving into the new house knowing that we don’t have any foreseeable need to leave it for a looooong time. We won’t outgrow it possibly ever and we want to make this town our home. I will also be able to walk to work and we both can walk to downtown and our favorite cafe. I’m excited!
I haven’t yet decided if I’m going to post about our wedding, I might in words, but I don’t know if I’ll share the pictures. Truthfully, I barely glanced at the photos when we first received them and haven’t gone back yet since — we’ve had a lot on our plate. Our wedding was so small and intimate that it feels too personal to put pictures up. Everyone probably says this, but I think our wedding was the very best ever. It will probably take me a while to get the life updates up-to-date on this blog. I never thought I’d say this because I am a spring/summer girl all the way, but I’m excited for autumn to get here, our summer has just been kinda crazy, our May in particular, with all GREAT things, but I’m ready to slow down a bit before the new year.
More updates coming soon!
Linda — HI! I miss you! I don’t know if you will read this but I hope you do! :)
