2013! I can’t believe it’s finally here. I meant to write this goal/resolution post earlier but I came home from Kentucky after Christmas with a tiny runny nose, which manifested itself into a full-on sinus infection after the New Year. Today is the first day of 2013 that I’ve felt somewhat human again. I’ll say this: the neti pot – kind of a really gross process, but it surprisingly worked well for me. Enough about sickness!
John and I have so many goals this year. Of course, there are all the health and wellness goals which we have specific plans for already. We also want to:
-Organize our finances better — we both have methods of doing this. This year we want to find a method that works for both of us and stick to it!
-Write more — John has a collection of writings in the works, I just want to write in my journal more.
-Evaluate and strengthen relationships — lately we’ve been discussing all of our relationships and have found ways in which we are going to help strengthen the meaningful, positive relationships in our lives.
-Help with a happy heart — this one is Rhianna-specific, an attitude adjustment for me, sometimes I find I have the time & talent to help someone, yet I reluctantly help at first… I need to start the task happily! Why don’t I remember that I always feel better after helping??? Hopefully it will stick this year.
-Volunteering — I continue to help with therapeutic riding, and now John does too! So we would like to continue to do that weekly. My goal this year is to donate my platelets monthly (1st time of the new year [I've only done it once before... maybe I should write about the experience because it's relatively pleasant] will be this coming weekend!). And we would like to find another outlet for volunteering — maybe donating more regularly to the local food pantry?
-Reading — last year I had a goal to read 52 books and I met that goal a month early! I think this year I’m going to make my reading goal to tackle “scary” books… first up will be Moby Dick. I’m not sure what John’s specific reading goal is this year but I know he has one.
-Document — we are so bad at documenting our life. We need to take more pictures, write about special days, and collect more memorable items. We’ve recently started collecting wine corks from special occasions — we want more of those kinds of things.
-Annnnnnnnnnnnnd… we both have a big goal this year: get married! We’ve been engaged for a while now and have been planning our wedding. Wedding plans are going extremely well, we have our date, location, & photographer set — more things are coming together nicely and we are super excited… like crazy excited. So excited we might even set another mini-goal of adding to our family late in the year… and I’m not talking rescuing another monster. We’ll see. :)
Oh Twenty-Thirteen! I’m so excited for you!

2013 is going to be so great for the both of you! I can’t wait to hear about any wedding plans!
Rhianna, you rock at reading and I suck. This year, since I want to get serious and take the GRE, I definitely NEED to read more. And use GoodReads more as a result.
